In January of 1956 Herb Walne began his career in the automotive repair business with the opening of a Humble Oil (Exxon today) service station at Northwest Highway and Easton Road in Northeast Dallas. His business grew to include a mechanical repair shop, automatic car wash and a body shop. In 1969 Exxon bought Herb out of the service station and garage business and he moved his body shop to the current location of Herb’s #1. The Dallas Metroplex expanding north, Herb expanded too, opening in Richardson with Herb’s third shop in 1978. In 1986, Herb’s Richardson added a new 8,000 sq ft prep and paint building to meet the growing needs of its customers. In 2005, Herb’s Richardson updated its look with a remodel to its front offices. Herb’s Richardson is also home to its marketing and accounting office.
