In January of 1956 Herb Walne began his career in the automotive repair business with the opening of a Humble Oil (Exxon today) service station at Northwest Highway and Easton Road in Northeast Dallas. His business grew to include a mechanical repair shop, automatic car wash and a body shop. In 1969 Exxon bought Herb out of the service station and garage business and he moved his body shop to the current location of Herb’s #1. With success of the first Herb’s Paint & Body, Herb opened his second shop in 1973 to better serve customers in northwest Dallas.
